About me

I’m a machine learning researcher with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Gran Sasso Science Institute, where I worked on explaining the decisions of graph neural networks.

My work moves between research and practice: I design ML systems for recommendation and anomaly detection, and I build open tools such as GRETEL so that other researchers can test explanation methods on equal terms. Before my PhD I lectured in Database Systems and Information Retrieval at the University of Havana and led research there in data mining and AI.

I’m now bringing this to Earth Observation, where interpretable anomaly detection can make large-scale satellite data easier to trust and act on.
